Before jumping into answering this question that not many people may ask themselves, it would be a good idea to answer another or perhaps the main question that why there are still handmade products? In the time that there are literally machines for everything we eat, wear, use on daily basis- like cars, mobile phones, computers, home appliances, or on larger scales- industries that are making airplanes with the capacity of traveling hundreds of travelers from country to country or cruses that can carry thousands of people with the luxury of living in a five-star hotel? Why bother to make a product by hand and spend countless hours and days and in some cases like handmade carpets months and years for just making one product? That in fact by pressing a button you can have thousands of the same product. Well to take a deep dive and find the real reason why there are still handmade products and why people in different countries around the world are still making handmade products, I believe there are eight reasons that make handmade products much more worthy, valuable, and pleasant than machine-made products.

First and foremost, handmade products are loved by people all around the world because they embed a nation’s culture and history in it. Handmade products are a very significant part of people’s lives in most countries where people can bond and find the feeling of their past history and rich culture. Humans have a sense of getting themselves connected to something that gives them a feeling and takes them to the times that they miss or be proud of, and this feeling can be only found on handmade products not machine-made. For example, the Afghan carpet- the number one carpet in all the world is very exquisite and beautiful and very high-quality carpets that are made by Afghans since the first day of Afghan history. The skill and art of making this high-quality carpet are still there in Afghanistan cause the Afghans love having an Afghan carpet. They share the same feeling with their handmade carpet cause Afghan carpet somehow defines them that they have a rich culture and are decent people.

Second, handmade products are unique and exclusive. Anyone can design something and order it to an artisan to make it as he/she would like it to be or make an already built product the way he/she thinks will look cool. This makes a handmade product more delightful and gives a feeling of love and joy to that person.

Third, handmade products-without even being exclusive or unique, have been learned and transferred for hundreds of years from generation to generation in order to keep the uniqueness and the workmanship that they include in them.

Fourth, handmade products are good for nature and are all green with not producing any gases or plastic that would ruin nature for a long period of time. Although that there is a machine involved in using handmade products but the usage of the machine in handmade products is just for doing simple tasks that cannot be done or is hard and time-consuming to be done by human beings. In general, handmade products do not rely very much on machines as machine products do. On the other hand, handmade products create slots for a more human job which is another positive thing about buying and using handmade products.

In brief, handmade products should be supported to be made and bought by people. Handmade products show the artistry of the human mind and the skill of their hand. They can be a little more expensive than machine-made products, but they are totally worth it cause they take more time and is really hard for human beings to make.
